What happens when a preppy girl buys a farm? She learns how to care for her family, two goats, too many chickens and the latest addition of some bees. All this while still trying to remain the preppy girl she's always been.
I hope you enjoy my creations, recipes and photos of living on the farm.
I grew up in a household where if you ate, you did it sitting at a table. My mother almost died when the boy next door came over one day for lunch and took his plate and plopped down in front of the TV.
My in-laws gave us these TV trays years ago. I've left them out in the rain, left glasses full of water sitting on them, and still they are in my summer house. So I decided I'd fix them up a little bit with spray paint. I love spray paint!!! And of course I couldn't paint them all the same color.
I found these great flip flop plates at TJ Maxx. I wanted to hang them on the guest bathroom wall at our summer house. So I cut a piece of duck cloth and added an eyelet to it. Then attached it to the plate with E6000. So now I have an entire line of flip flops walking up the wall.
I have had these beauties on my stash since Martha Stewart was at KMart. You can do the math. I got these great vinyl letters from Very Jane. You can sign up for there daily craft special. They have a special item each day that is a great price and only available that day.
I decided to fill them with some of my button stash. Now to find hte rest of my buttons.
This year my mother finally mentioned that she would like something for Mother's Day that I could afford, instead of the usual new car or diamond ring. She asked about herbs. I've tried putting herbs in pots, puuting herbs in my regular garden. But this is a very simple and compact way of having fresh herbs for the kitchen. Simply purchase a strawberry pot and stick the individual herb plants in the holes. The top plant is a bay plant which if kept indoors during the winter should turn into a nice little bush.
I saw this wooden basket and thought it would be perfect for Easter, but on the farm it can serve a purpose every day.The basket was a pale shade of pink. I painted the sides ecru and then cut the vinyl letters with my Cricut. I then painted the whole basket brown. Here is the finished piece.
