Economical Way to Make a Map Wall

I used this book to do the Map Table a couple months ago.

They have these books for every state and I think for countries as well. They only cost $17 each.

I framed up a few more maps to hang at our summer house, focusing on the beaches and Chesapeake Bay area of Virginia. You could event frame the entire state.

I Don't Really Like TV Trays

I grew up in a household where if you ate, you did it sitting at a table. My mother almost died when the boy next door came over one day for lunch and took his plate and plopped down in front of the TV.

My in-laws gave us these TV trays years ago. I've left them out in the rain, left glasses full of water sitting on them, and still they are in my summer house.

So I decided I'd fix them up a little bit with spray paint. I love spray paint!!!

And of course I couldn't paint them all the same color.

Plates into Wall Art

I found these great flip flop plates at TJ Maxx. I wanted to hang them on the guest bathroom wall at our summer house. So I cut a piece of duck cloth and added an eyelet to it. Then attached it to the plate with E6000.

So now I have an entire line of flip flops walking up the wall.

Numbered Apothercary Jars

I have had these beauties on my stash since Martha Stewart was at KMart. You can do the math. I got these great vinyl letters from Very Jane. You can sign up for there daily craft special. They have a special item each day that is a great price and only available that day.

I decided to fill them with some of my button stash. Now to find hte rest of my buttons.

Simple Herb Garden

This year my mother finally mentioned that she would like something for Mother's Day that I could afford, instead of the usual new car or diamond ring. She asked about herbs. I've tried putting herbs in pots, puuting herbs in my regular garden. But this is a very simple and compact way of having fresh herbs for the kitchen.

Simply purchase a strawberry pot and stick the individual herb plants in the holes. The top plant is a bay plant which if kept indoors during the winter should turn into a nice little bush.

Happy gardening!

Teacher Appreciation: Countdown to Summer

Everyone likes to countdown to summer, but I'm hoping Miss K's teachers will like these clipboards.

I found this great idea over at eighteen25.

The direct post to the tutorial is here.

They used their Silhouette to make the lettering and imagery which just looks great. Maybe I should get mine out of the box and learn to use it.

Anyway, don't forget all those great teachers that care about and love our children each day.

Farm Fresh Eggs

I saw this wooden basket and thought it would be perfect for Easter, but on the farm it can serve a purpose every day.The basket was a pale shade of pink.

I painted the sides ecru and then cut the vinyl letters with my Cricut.

I then painted the whole basket brown.

Here is the finished piece.
